Gone Home is Coming to Consoles

In an interview with IGN The Fullbright Company co-founder Steve Gaynor has spoken out about what’s next for the studio.

Gaynor confirmed that the studio’s runaway success, Gone Home, will be coming to consoles in the coming year.

“We designed Gone Home from the beginning to be a couch experience,” Gaynor told IGN. “There are Trophies and there [are] Achievements, but there’s also new features with the new consoles. The PS4 is all about sharing, for instance.”

The platform Gone Home will ultimately land on is as of yet, undecided, but the studio is currently deliberating how best to utilize the console hardware for the Gone Home experience.

“It’s less about what we can add, what we can change,” said Gaynor. “It’s, ‘How can we make it the best version you could possibly play on the hardware you’ve got on your living room?’”

The Fullbright Company is partnering with publisher Midnight City to port the game over so the studio can focus on its next project.

“We are not working on a sequel,” says Gaynor. “We’re currently doing very early days on what our next game is. I can say it won’t be Gone Home 2, but I can also sat it’ll be us continuing to explore the kind of interactive experiences we started with Gone Home. And then seeing what our next step is, so we don’t repeat ourselves.”
