Industry Analyst Calls PlayStation Now ‘a Joke’
Industry analyst Michael Pachter has made his opinion on Sony’s upcoming streaming service, PlayStation Now, known in the latest issue of Game Informer.
In the March issue of the magazine Pachter is quoted as saying
“PlayStation Now is a joke. There is no publisher that is going to license content that’s less than two-years old because they would be concerned that they can’t sell as many copies if they make it available for subscription or rental.”
“This has no prayer of working. None.”
Even as Pachter says this, it’s worth nothing that contradictions to his statements already exist in the PlayStation ecosystem.
Even in the past few months games that were less than a year old have been featured in the Instant Game Collection available to PlayStation Plus users, including Bioshock Infinite and DMC: Devil May Cry.
PlayStation Now is currently undergoing beta testing and is expected to launch in North America this summer.
So what do you think? Do you agree with Pachter that PlayStation Now destined to fail? We certainly don’t.
