Live Streaming Delayed To 2014 For Xbox One
In a blog posting on Xbox Wire, the official Xbox blog, it was announced that live streaming via the Twitch app will not be available at launch for the Xbox One, but will be available (they hope) in early 2014. The live streaming giant, Twitch, is an important feature for both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 to allow gamers all over the world to share in the experience of gaming and discussing the action live as it happens.
We know the ability to instantly broadcast gameplay is something the gaming community is excited about, and we are too. We are working to ensure the initial Twitch on Xbox One broadcasting experience meets the expectations of the Twitch community, so while this feature won’t be available right away, we’ll let you know as soon as it is ready. Our goal is to deliver it during the first part of 2014.
Gamers will still be able to record the last 5 minutes of gameplay and upload clips for the gaming public to view on Xbox Live and save them to their SkyDrive accounts. The lack of live streaming puts the Xbox One in a tough spot considering the PlayStation 4 launched with the ability to live stream to Twitch and Ustream. Hopefully they can reach their goal of having the feature usable in early 2014 but, for now, users can watch live streams via the Twitch app on their Xbox One.
