New World Speedrun Record Set For Super Mario 64
Super Mario 64 is a classic. It set standards for 3D gameplay for years to come, was the first time we saw our favorite plumber in 3D and provided a unique, open world gameplay experience unlike any other at the time. With all of that to explore it seems like rushing through might be the last thing on anyone’s mind, but a competitive speedrunning community is alive and well. Thousands of hours of practice go into a speedrun and no one knows that as well as Siglemic, a popular speedrunner for Super Mario 64. He recently launched a 24 hour live stream in which he’d attempt to go for multiple records, the 120 star completion time and the 70 star completion time for which he already boasts some impressive times. But earlier this morning Siglemic shattered the world record by completing the game with all 120 stars in just 1 hour 43 minutes and 54 seconds. Twitch provided the screenshot of the final moment and time.
Congrats to @Siglemic for achieving a new Super Mario 64 120 star world record and finally hitting the fabled 1:43! pic.twitter.com/fD854iA3gX

Completing the game with 120 stars is a difficult feat in and of itself, but doing it live while thousands of people are watching is another. Our congrats go out to Siglemic for all his hard work!
