PS4 Inventory On Hold For Post-Launch Sales
In an interview with Fox Business, Sony’s CEO Jack Tretton revealed that they have enough inventory stock to pre-sell each console but they’ve chosen to hold some back for those who didn’t pre-order to have a chance to purchase the console through to Christmas.
We want to make sure consumers have an opportunity to buy one on November 15th in through the holidays so we’re holding back some inventory to make sure that people have an opportunity to buy one that comes in on launch day. But we can pre-sell every unit we can manufacture. And the good news is production yields have been phenomenal so this will be by a magnitude of a lot; the biggest launch we’ve ever had.
At over 1 million pre-orders, it is amazing to wonder just how many consoles are ready to go and how many more are being held back for those who haven’t secured their pre-order yet. You can get your hands on a PS4 whether you’ve pre-ordered or not on November 15.
