Steam Reaches 65 Million Active Users
Steam has reached quite the milestone. They currently have 65 million active users, which is a 30 percent increase in users from one year ago. Not only that, but they see active users hitting a daily stride of more than 6 million.
Steam’s most successful game is currently Dota 2, which reaches 500,000 players on a daily basis. The game, which is free-to-play, officially released earlier this year after a lengthy beta period. Being the sequel to the extremely popular Defense of the Ancients mod, the fan base for the game quickly gained momentum. Not to mention, to play the game, players would need valid Steam accounts.
The amount of users on Steam easily makes it a contender in the games race. Microsoft currently has 48 million users on Xbox Live, half of which paid for the Xbox Live Gold subscription, and Sony claims to have 110 million users on the PlayStation Network. With the release of Steam Box, the Steam Controller and Steam OS, all of these users will be able to play their games in their living rooms as well as on their PCs when all these peripherals officially launch.
