‘Watch Dogs 2’ Not Happening Anytime Soon
According to Creative Director Jonathan Morin, “there is no such thing as a Watch Dogs 2.” The open world, action game filled with hacking and hyper connectivity that is Watch Dogs, was delayed last year as the company wished to polish up the game for release. The delay lost the publisher a lot of money, but if the company ever decided to do a sequel, Morin assured fans that it wouldn’t take long for the game to hit the market.
“It’s certainly not going to be the same amount of time if we ever embark on such a journey,” Morin said. “A big part of it was defining whatever Watch Dogs is. Once you have that starting point, then what becomes interesting is what players want more of–what comes next?”
If a sequel were to be made, Morin states that the game will probably focus more on the hacking and hyper connectivity aspects. Currently the company’s sights are set on making sure Watch Dogs is released without any complications. Not surprising since the game was delayed and the publishers suffered financially. However, the delay shows the public that the Ubisoft team is committed to this game, so perhaps there will be a sequel?
We can only hope.
Watch Dogs releases on May 27 for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PC. A Wii U version will be released sometime later. If you would like to see more of Watch Dogs, watch the trailer below to see their multiplayer in action.
