Xbox One Not Meant To Stand Vertically
Those of you who like to stand your consoles vertically might not want to do that with your Xbox One. Doing so could damage your console. Senior director of product management Albert Panello told GameSpot at Tokyo Game Show that the disc drive isn’t designed for vertical orientation. The Xbox One features a “slot loading drive” and they “didn’t design it for both” vertical and horizontal orientations.
This shouldn’t be too much of a problem seeing as how Panello stated that “80 percent of people…have their Xbox [360] horizontally.” However, both the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 feature a slot loading drive but both can be placed either horizontally or vertically with no risk to the console whatsoever. So for the 20 percent that have their Xbox vertically, you may want to rethink that positioning with the release of the Xbox One.
