Xbox One and PS4 Party Chat Sizes Announced

As the countdown to launch gets ever closer to taking its final toll, we continue to find out more details about the next gen consoles. Today both Sony and Microsoft announced their caps on party chat sizes and SURPRISE: they’re both the same.

Sid Shuman, social media manager at Sony, was quoted saying

“Party Voice Chat will support up to 8 players on PS4, like PS Vita.”

In addition to being able to chat with 8 people at once, you will also be able to chat with PS Vita users from your PS4 via cross-platform chat.

Upon hearing this announcement, Microsoft confirmed that the Xbox One can also party chat with up to 8 people.

“At launch, up to eight people will be able to join a Party Chat at a time on Xbox One,”

an un-named Microsoft spokesperson told Game Informer.

It should be noted that you can already party chat with 8 people on the Xbox 360, leaving one to wonder if we could see this number grow in the future.
